The Jet d’Eau is an iconic landmark and one of the most famous attractions in Geneva, Switzerland. This impressive fountain stands tall at 140 meters (459 feet) and is located at the point where Lake Geneva meets the Rhône River. Originally constructed in 1886 as a hydraulic facility, the Jet d’Eau soon became a symbol of the city and was later moved to its current location in 1891.

The fountain is powered by two pumps that shoot water into the air at an astonishing speed of 200 km/h (124 mph). The striking sight of the water jet against the backdrop of Lake Geneva and the Alps has become synonymous with Geneva itself, attracting countless visitors each year.
