Lidderwat Trek

Day 1: Srinagar to Aru Valley (2,408m)

  • Drive from Srinagar to Aru Valley (112 km, 3-4 hours)
  • Stay overnight at Aru Valley in a guesthouse

Day 2: Aru Valley to Lidderwat (3,050m)

  • Trek from Aru Valley to Lidderwat (11 km, 6-7 hours)
  • The trail passes through beautiful meadows, dense forests, and along the Lidder River.
  • Stay overnight at Lidderwat in tents.

Day 3: Lidderwat to Satlun (3,300m)

  • Trek from Lidderwat to Satlun (12 km, 5-6 hours)
  • The trail passes through beautiful alpine meadows, and offers stunning views of the surrounding mountains.
  • Stay overnight at Satlun in tents.

Day 4: Satlun to Kolahoi Base Camp (3,800m) and return to Satlun

  • Trek from Satlun to Kolahoi Base Camp (10 km, 5-6 hours)
  • The trail offers panoramic views of the Kolahoi Glacier and the surrounding peaks.
  • Return to Satlun for an overnight stay in tents.

Day 5: Satlun to Lidderwat

  • Trek from Satlun to Lidderwat (12 km, 4-5 hours)
  • Stay overnight at Lidderwat in tents.

Day 6: Lidderwat to Aru Valley

  • Trek from Lidderwat to Aru Valley (11 km, 4-5 hours)
  • Stay overnight at Aru Valley in a guesthouse.

Day 7: Aru Valley to Srinagar

  • Drive back to Srinagar (112 km, 3-4 hours)
  • Trek ends.

Things to carry:

  • Warm clothes (woolen sweaters, jackets, gloves, and caps)
  • Rain gear (poncho or waterproof jacket)
  • Hiking boots or trekking shoes
  • Sunscreen and sunglasses
  • Water bottle and hydration pack
  • First-aid kit and medication
  • Flashlight or headlamp with extra batteries
  • Map and compass or GPS device

Training Tips:

  • The Lidderwat Trek is a moderate level trek, but it is recommended to start training at least 1-2 months before the trek.
  • Incorporate cardio exercises such as running, swimming, cycling, or brisk walking to improve your endurance and stamina.
  • Strength training exercises such as lunges, squats, and leg presses can help strengthen your leg muscles and prepare you for the steep ascents and descents on the trek.

Safety Tips:

  • Always carry a first aid kit with basic medication for headaches, fever, altitude sickness, and other common ailments.
  • Stay hydrated and drink plenty of water to avoid dehydration at high altitudes.
  • Pack warm clothes and rain gear, as the weather can be unpredictable in the mountains.
  • Carry a map and compass or GPS device to navigate the trail, as it can be easy to get lost in the wilderness.
  • Follow the instructions of your guide and do not venture off the trail on your own.
  • In case of an emergency, call for help immediately and follow the instructions of your guide.

Accommodation and Costs:

Accommodation during the trek will be in tents, with a sleeping bag and sleeping mat provided. The cost of the trek can vary depending on the trekking company you choose and the inclusions/exclusions of the package. However, on average, the cost can range from INR 10,000 to INR 15,000 per person for a 5-day trek.

  • Transportation from Srinagar to Aru and back
