Itinerary

On arrival in Kiruna you will be brought to Jukkasjärvi, and your accommodation at the ICEHOTEL. Wander around the ICEHOTEL - check out all the different art suites. Choose between two restaurants - the ICE Restaurant with an "Ice Menu" or the Old Homestead with a more traditional feel.

In the evening you can enjoy a drink in the uber-cool icebar before settling into your snow room at the ICEHOTEL. Dinner is also included this evening.

Inside ICEHOTEL, the temperature is never colder than -5 °C to -8 °C, regardless of how cold it may be outside. Dress in warm thermal underwear, put on a hat and slip into the cozy sleeping bag. You are awakened in the morning with a cup of hot lingonberry juice at your bedside. Breakfast buffet, guided tour of the hotel, storage locker, WiFi, morning sauna and towels are included in your stay.

This morning, explore the magical world of ice sculpting for yourself with an introductory class. Working with your hands completely absorbs you. It's relaxing and intense at once. The guide begins the class by giving you some background about working with ice, and an introduction to the tools.

Each sculptor apprentice is then given a block and chisel and off you go!

In the early afternoon, head outside for a Dogsledding adventure. Touring with a dog and sled through the pristine forest and over frozen rivers provides a dream-like feeling. You’re side by side with nature and we promise you an unforgettable experience. The tour begins at ICEHOTEL where your guide will provide you with warm clothing, gloves and hat. After that a safety briefing and instructions and then it’s time to go! After an hour of sledding, we’ll pause to enjoy a warm drink in the beautiful wilderness before returning to ICEHOTEL. If you would like to mush your own sled, please let us know as this can be possible.

You will be sleeping in a warm room this evening.

Train journey this morning to Luleå and transfer to Treehotel. Treehotel is located in Harads, near the Lule river. There is a small village of about 600 people close by to wander through. When you arrive at Treehotel, you check in at Britta's Pensionat. Then it's just a short stroll (5 mins) through the beautiful nature to your treeroom. You can either carry your luggage or it can be transported.

When you are ready, you have a guided tour of the Treehotel included. Your accommodation for the night will be in The Cabin, The Bird’s Nest, The Blue Cone, The UFO or The Mirror Cube. The Dragonfly room is available for a supplement. Once you have settled in, head to the small TreeSauna for a 2 hour steam session.

From your Treehotel's room you get a fantastic view of the Lule River valley, miles of forest and the powerful river. And don't forget that the Treehotel location above the Arctic Circle, away from artificial light makes the camp a perfect spot for watching the Aurora Borealis.

After breakfast, drive to visit the Forest Sami Eriksson family in Flakaberg, a journey which indulges all of the senses. Lars, who is a great storyteller, will tell you about Sami culture, his childhood, youth and his life as a reindeer herder in the forestland of Swedish Lapland. You will get to meet the reindeer that wander the farm, try pot-boiled coffee by the campfire and be treated to a tasty lunch prepared by Lars’ wife, Anette. The tour also includes a visit to the Arctic Circle.
