Itinerary

You will drive over the 662 meter long Alssund Bridge from the Sudeved peninsula to the islet of Als to Fynshav on the east coast. In the small fishing village you will find a fishing, yacht and ferry harbor, from where you will travel by ferry to Bøjden on the island of Funen. 2 x overnight e.g. at Comwell Hotel Hans Christian Andersen in Odens

The visit to the magnificent Egeskov Castle is planned for today. It has been owned by many Danish noble families throughout its history and is still home to Countess Nonni and Count Gregers. In addition, explore the history of Odense by following in the footsteps of H.C. Andersen through the historic Old Town. You will find in Odense the H.C. Andersen House, his childhood home and also a museum about his works. Large parks and gardens as well as riverbanks and forests adorn the surroundings and tempt you to take long and relaxing walks. A few kilometers from Odense is the coastal town of Kerteminde with a sandy beach that invites you to swim.

Today the journey continues to the largest Danish island of Zealand. On the way there you will cross the legendary Storebaelt Bridge. It is a total of 18 km long connection of the two islands across the Great Belt, which consists of two bridges and a tunnel. 3 x overnight e.g. at Comwell Hotel Roskilde.

Zealand offers numerous cultural and historical attractions such as the beautiful castles Amalienborg, Christiansborg and Rosenborg around Copenhagen and the famous Kronborg Castle in Helsingør, where Shakespeare's drama "Hamlet" is set. In the north of Copenhagen, you can also marvel at the elegant Frederiksborg moated castle in all its glory. The capital Copenhagen will inspire you! The marble Frederik's Church, the Tivoli and the Little Mermaid are not to be missed during an excursion. In your overnight city of Roskilde, which was once a royal city until 1443, you will find an interesting Viking ship museum and a romantic Gothic cathedral, which has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. A true world natural heritage and thus an unforgettable eye-catcher is the Stevns Klint cliff in the southeast of the island. It rises 41 meters above sea level and still shows the consequences of the meteorite impact more than 66 million years ago.

Today you will continue the round trip. Your way leads you by ferry to the Kimbrian peninsula Jutland and thus back to the mainland of Denmark. 2 x overnight stay e.g. at Comwell Hotel Aarhus.

You are in Aarhus, the second largest city in Denmark, nestled in a beautiful nature with dense forests, sparkling lakes and green hills. One of the most famous sights of the city is "Den Gamle By" - an open-air museum, which provides an extensive insight into the past. Besides the open-air museum, there are a number of other museums such as the ARoS Art Museum, the prehistoric Moesgaard Museum and the Glass Museum in Ebeltoft. Northwest of Aarhus you will find the former capital of Denmark Viborg with a fascinating old town and history. If you feel like actively exploring nature and enjoying the fresh air, a trip to the 180 km² large national park Mols Bjerge, which was created over millions of years ago by gigantic water streams, is worthwhile.

The former small fishing settlement of Middelfart is still called "the golden middle" because it was once the crossing point across the Little Belt between Fønsøre and Strib. It is situated at the narrowest part of the water and thus exactly in the middle of the action. On the way to Middelfahrt, you have the opportunity to drive to the village of Hou, from where you can take a ferry to the island of Samsø. It is known as the sunniest and climate neutral island and has many cycling and hiking routes to offer. 2 x overnight e.g. at Comwell Hotel Middelfart.

Explore the opposite North Sea coast of Denmark. There you will find, among other things, the coastal and harbor town of Esberg. From there you can travel by ferry to Fanø and enjoy a day at the beach. Between Fanø and the German island of Sylt lies the Danish island of Rømø, which can be reached by car via the Rømø Dam. Rømø also impresses visitors with its beautiful beach promenade and dune landscape. South of Middelfahrt it is recommended to stop in Sønderborg at the Flensburg Fjord. Sonderburg Castle, which gives the town its name, is located directly on the water and was intended to protect the town from threatening pirates. Not far from the castle you will find Støvlen - a funny lookout point in the shape of a boot and also Dybbøl Mill, which offers a wide view over the bay of Sønderborg.

Today it is time to say goodbye. You will start your journey home on your own with many beautiful memories in your luggage.

Please note the entry requirements and vaccination requirements according to the Foreign Office.
