Druk Path – (PRIVATE TRIP) Tour Package (7 Nights / 8 Days)

After breakfast, take a short drive to the trailhead leading to Taktsang monastery (Tiger’s Nest). The trail to the monastery climbs through beautiful pine forest with many of the trees covered with Spanish moss and an occasional grove of fluttering prayer flags. Stop at a cafeteria for a rest and refreshments and continue the hike until you reach the Taktsang monastery. Built in 1600s, this incredible monastery clings to the edge of a sheer rock cliff that plunges 3,000 ft. into the valley below.

Begin the trek! Most of the day will be a steady incline up toward Jele Dzong. Gradually make your way up the ancient trade route to Jili La Pass (11,450 ft). After the pass, enjoy a short walk down to the campsite. If there is time, walk along the ridge just above camp for the stunning view of mountains and the valleys. If the weather is clear, catch a glimpse of the majestic Mt. Jomolhari in the distance.

After a short climb, the trail levels out into a meadow along the ridge for some time. Walk downhill for a bit before climbing through thick alpine forest to a saddle at 11,778 ft. The trail follows a ridge making many ups and downs towards the campsite in a yak pasture at Jangchulakha.

After breakfast, hike up a short steep trail through the forest of junipers that starts right from the camp. Once the climb is done, the trail levels for a while and continues gradually up and down through the thicket of dwarf rhododendrons leading to Jangchu La (13,714ft) before a big drop to the camp at Jimilangtsho Lake (12,730 ft).

Walk down to the southern end of the lake and then climb through dwarf rhododendrons until the trail leads you to another lake known as Jahnye Tsho. From here, the path gets much wider as it meanders uphill through the dwarf rhododendrons till the summit near camp. Keep your eye out for a good view of Mt. Gangkhar Punsum, Bhutan's highest mountain.

Complete the descent through the pine forest to a ridge which is marked by a Chorten and a grove of fluttering prayer flags. On a clear day, see the long chain of snow covered mountains and Thimphu valley below. From here, walk to Thimphu to meet a car for you return to Paro. Enjoy a celebration dinner and a hot shower.
