Itinerary

Pickup from Hotel/ Airport Tour the Royal Enclosure, a UNESCO World Heritage site featuring five castles built by a succession of Ethiopian Kings beginning in the early 17th century. Having survived several wars, including air raids during World War 2, the castles are a testament to the resilience of this once mighty African Empire.

We will start our road to Debark, the gate to the Semine Mountains. En route we will stop at different locations to visit the endemic Chilada Babbon and the scenic Semine gorge. A short trek to see the Semine Mountain massifl, and birds.

Overnight Debark

Morning drive to Gondar to take the morning flight to Lalibella, Fly with ET122 to Lalibela, arrive at 10;30 after lunch Tour the magnificent rock-hewn churches of Lalibela, a UNESCO World Heritage site. This group of eleven monolithic and semi-monolithic structures were carved directly into the stone of the mountainside at least 800 years ago. This complex boasts the largest monolithic church in the world, a maze of passageways and tunnels, intricately carved reliefs, and fabulous examples of icon paintings.

For the morning Drive to Yemrehanna Kristos, a beautiful church situated in a shallow cave that predates the churches of Lalibela. The drive to Yemrehanna will also give you the opportunity to view the rural countryside and villages of the Ethiopian highlands. A full day drive from Lalibela - Mekele, drive through the scenic road to mekele and optional stop at the view points, Late afternoon arrival in Mekele. Overnight Mekele

Drive to Hamedella through Berhale where the camel caravan stop before passing to the northern Highlands enroute you will see long camel caravan going to the salt mine other camel coming out of the Danakil with their salt loaded on the camel. Overnight Hamedella

Hamedella - Earta'le Drive to Earta'le arrive in Askoma 9 km trek from Askoma and spend the night in watching the dramatic volcano.

Earta'le - Dalol - Mekele Drive to Dallol visit lake Asale, where you can see the dramatic landscape formed by a volcanic eruptions and the sulphur and different minerals pouring out of the Earth.
