Georgia, officially known as the Republic of Georgia, is a country situated at the crossroads of Eastern Europe and Western Asia. Bordered by Russia to the north, Turkey and Armenia to the south, Azerbaijan to the southeast, and the Black Sea to the west, Georgia boasts a rich history, diverse culture, and breathtaking natural landscapes.
Arrival in Tbilisi at 17:00 PM. Pick up from Tbilisi International Airport. Drive to Indian Restaurant. Dinner. Hotel check in and Overnight in Tbilisi.
Start very scenic drive up through the High Caucasus Mountains along the Georgian Military Highway, which is the major route linking Georgia with Russia. On the way visit Ananuri Fortress overlooking a reservoir on the Aragvi River. Drive through the spectacular and breathtaking mountain scenery of the Greater Caucasus as we make our way to through Gudauri (2200 m), a winter ski resort overlooking an epic gorge and on to the mountain village of Kazbegi. 4 WD drive up through beautiful valleys and forests to the Gergeti Trinity church (14th cen.) located on top of the mountain (2170 m) and one of the country’s most iconic images. Weather permitting, you may also be able to catch a glimpse one of the highest glaciers in the Caucasus - Mt. Kazbegi (5047 m). Drive back to Tbilisi. Overnight
Drive to visit the ancient capital and religious centre of Georgia - Mtskheta and its historical places: Jvari church (6th cen.) and Svetitskhoveli Cathedral (11th cen.) where the Robe of Christ is buried (UNESCO World Heritage sites); Afterwards return in Tbilisi and visit Tbilisi shopping mall - famous for world-class brands and the best international shopping outlets for men and women's fashion, home appliances, electronics and jewelry.
After breakfast start walking tour of Tbilisi, a charming town built in the 5th century along the twisting valley of Mtkvari River. All the places of interest are very close to each other, within a few minutes’ walk. Start the visit from Metekhi plateau, before taking the cable car to Narikala Fortress which dominates the skyline of the Old Town. Continue to explore brick-domed underground sulfur baths (17th cen.) - the district of naturally hot mineral waters, cafe street Shardeni, Synagogue and Sioni Cathedral (7th cen.). Walk along Rustaveli Avenue with souvenir shopping possibility. Overnight in Tbilisi.
Check out from the hotel. Lunch in Indian restaurant and transfer to Tbilisi international airport. 17:30 Departure from Georgia. (B,L).
