Chatakpur Trek is a popular trekking destination in the Darjeeling district of West Bengal, India. It is an easy to moderate level trek that takes you through some of the most scenic and unexplored regions of the Eastern Himalayas.
Day 1: Arrival in Darjeeling
Arrive in Darjeeling and check-in to your hotel. Spend the day exploring the beautiful hill station, visit some of the famous attractions like the Darjeeling Himalayan Railway, Tiger Hill, Batasia Loop, Ghoom Monastery, and others. In the evening, attend a briefing session with your trek guide and go through the itinerary and other necessary details about the trek.
Day 2: Darjeeling to Manebhanjan
After an early breakfast, start your journey towards Manebhanjan, which is the starting point of your trek. The distance between Darjeeling and Manebhanjan is around 26 km and takes about an hour to reach. Once you reach Manebhanjan, check-in to your guesthouse and rest for a while. You can also explore the town and its surroundings. Overnight stay at Manebhanjan.
Day 3: Manebhanjan to Chitre
After an early breakfast, start your trek from Manebhanjan to Chitre. The trek is about 4 km long and takes around 4-5 hours to reach Chitre. The trail takes you through some beautiful forests and offers breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains. Once you reach Chitre, check-in to your campsite and spend the rest of the day exploring the nearby areas. Overnight stay at Chitre.
Day 4: Chitre to Meghma
After breakfast, start your trek from Chitre to Meghma. The trek is around 6 km long and takes around 5-6 hours to reach Meghma. The trail takes you through some of the most beautiful forests of the Eastern Himalayas and offers stunning views of the surrounding mountains. Once you reach Meghma, check-in to your campsite and rest for a while. You can also explore the nearby areas. Overnight stay at Meghma.
Day 5: Meghma to Chatakpur
After an early breakfast, start your trek from Meghma to Chatakpur. The trek is around 8 km long and takes around 6-7 hours to reach Chatakpur. The trail takes you through some beautiful forests and offers breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains. Once you reach Chatakpur, check-in to your homestay and rest for a while. You can also explore the nearby areas. Overnight stay at Chatakpur.
Day 6: Chatakpur to Darjeeling
After breakfast, start your journey back to Darjeeling. The distance between Chatakpur and Darjeeling is around 20 km and takes about an hour to reach. Once you reach Darjeeling, check-in to your hotel and rest for a while. You can spend the rest of the day exploring the town and its surroundings. Overnight stay at Darjeeling.
Day 7: Departure
After breakfast, check-out from your hotel and depart for your onward journey.
