After breakfast, you will start by a drive to the Desert via Asellah, following the scenic rocky coastline, to visit the old Mosque in Jalan Bani Bu Ali, Al Hamooda Mosque, that was build in 11th Century ….. Continue towards Wahiba sands, with its golden sand dunes. Meet a Bedouin family, do some dune bashing which consists in going up and down the dunes like a roller coaster with your 4x4. Enjoy the tranquility of the desert . The night in the desert will be a memorable one.

Today we are driving up the Jebel Shams Mountain. On the way there we make a stop in the ancient village of AL Hamra to visit a cute little museum which has opened up in one of the oldaYour journey starts with a visit of Bahla, a charming little town surrounded by an old 12 km long wall; visit the place where they make pottery and also the old Fort of Bahla, one of the oldest in Oman. It is UNESCO Heritage site. (Under renovation)

Travel to Jebel Shams but before going up the mountain there is an interesting wadi, Wadi Nakhr, a narrow canyon. It is a stunning beautiful place, and is geologically spectacular, being one of the deepest canyons on the planet. Go deep inside to visit the village where the main activity is weaving ….. Your journey then continues to the top of Jebel Shams, “Sun Mountain”, Oman’s highest peak, 3009 m. ….. get a spectacular view of the “Grand Canyon”. The stunning landscape will enchant you before heading down the mountain to return to Muscat.

Overnight at Hotel Muscat,

After the small tour you will be lead into a Majilis (Omani living room) to have Omani coffee/Tea and dates.

From there we start the drive up the Jebel Shams Mountain to the Resort where we spend the night. After our check-in, you have leisure time the rest of the day. You can spend the afternoon walking around the famous Grand Canyon of Oman. There are many different walking paths to choose from (easy short or difficult and long). The Canyon edge offers spectacular views of the Wadis and valleys below.
