Itinerary

You will fly to Valetta and upon arrival you will be transferred to the hotel. At the first dinner you will get to know your fellow travelers as well as your tour guide. (A)

After breakfast you will set off for Vittoriosa, one of the "Three Cities". This offers a very special insight into the history and present of Malta. Together you will stroll through the historic streets of Vittoriosa and see, among other things, the church of St. Lawrence and the palace of the Inquisitor. Magnificent murals and coats of arms of the 62 inquisitors residing here can be admired inside. Not far away, on the southeast coast of the island, is the lively fishing village of Marsaxlokk. In the sheltered bay, the traditional colorfully painted Luzzu boats rock. Hard to imagine how these little nutshells withstand the vagaries of the sea! At the local fish market, immerse yourself in the colorful hustle and bustle of the Maltese. In the afternoon there is time for relaxation at the hotel or independent exploration. (F)

Discover Malta's capital (UNESCO World Heritage Site) today. You start with a harbor tour in the typical Maltese gondolas (approx. 30 min.) and then discover the Upper Baracca Garden during a walk, from where you have a magnificent view of the natural harbor and the "Three Cities". Passing by Baroque buildings of the Knights of Malta, you will see the St. John's Cathedral with Caravaggio's famous painting "The Beheading of John the Baptist". You will view the Grand Master's Palace, the official residence of the Maltese President, from the outside because of its function and possible short-term restrictions. Afterwards, you will have a good hour of free time to explore the city on your own or dine in one of the restaurants. Then you will meet again and go to "La Sacra Infermeria". Here you will learn about Malta's 7000-year history in an interesting audiovisual show. Afterwards you will be guided through the historical rooms of the former hospital. (F)

Enjoy your free day on the gorgeous Mediterranean island. How about a refreshing swim? In the hotel's own pool and on the associated terrace you can let your soul dangle. (F)

In the morning you will first discover the Rotunda of Mosta. With its mighty, cantilevered dome, the church is visible from afar. Continue to the picturesque San Anton Gardens. Stroll around in what is probably Malta's most beautiful park. Then another highlight is on the program: the old island capital Mdina. Medieval churches and beautiful palace facades make up the charm of Mdina. A stroll through the narrow streets and the view from the fortress walls will inspire you. Back at the hotel you decide individually how you would like to spend the afternoon. Malta is well connected by public buses and makes a visit to e.g. Valletta or St. Pauls Bay uncomplicated. (F)

Look forward to an excursion to Gozo. You will visit the millennia-old Ggantija temples (UNESCO World Heritage Site). The largest megaliths here measure six meters and weigh almost 20 tons, so the name is rightly chosen. Afterwards, you will visit the church of Ta Pinu, the holiest place in the entire archipelago. After numerous miracles are said to have occurred in the former chapel, today's place of worship was expanded with part of the original chapel, thus providing space for numerous pilgrims. A leisurely lunch in the small fishing village of Xlendi awaits you at lunchtime. In the capital Victoria, stroll through the charming alleys and marvel at the striking citadel. (B/M)

In the small fishing village of Wied iz-Zurrieq you can have your camera ready right in the morning. From a plateau you have a magnificent view of the unique rock formations, which include the Blue Grotto. If you like, you can take a boat trip into the interior of the caves (optional, bookable on site, weather permitting). Afterwards you will visit the UNSECO World Heritage Site Hagar Qim. The prehistoric temple complex is situated in a fantastic location overlooking the sea and the island of Filfla and is one of the best preserved megalithic sites in Malta. We will continue to the Limestone Heritage Park, where you will learn about the mining of limestone, which is still used for building today. Here you will also enjoy lunch together. A visit to the majestic Dingli Cliffs rounds out the day. The cliffs drop about 250 meters into the sea, creating a unique landscape. During the last dinner together you will review your trip with your fellow travelers and your tour guide. (B/M/A)

Today you say goodbye to Malta and start your journey home. Transfer to the airport and return flight. (F)

The inclusion of accommodations in a Malta tour package varies depending on the tour operator and the specific package chosen. Many tour packages do include accommodations as part of the overall package to provide a hassle-free and convenient experience for travelers. These accommodations typically range from comfortable hotels and resorts to charming guesthouses or boutique properties, catering to various budgets and preferences. However, it's essential for travelers to carefully review the details of each package to ascertain whether accommodations are included, the type of accommodation provided, and any specific terms and conditions related to lodging. The currency of Malta is the Euro (€). Since Malta became a member of the European Union in 2004, it adopted the Euro as its official currency in 2008, replacing the Maltese lira. The Euro is now the legal tender used for all transactions, including shopping, dining, and other financial activities throughout the island. As a member of the Eurozone, Malta benefits from a stable and widely accepted currency, making it convenient for both locals and international visitors to conduct monetary transactions during their stay.

The best time to visit Malta is during the shoulder seasons of spring (April to June) and autumn (September to October). During these months, the weather is pleasantly mild, with comfortable temperatures ranging from 18°C to 28°C (64°F to 82°F). The springtime brings blooming flowers and lush green landscapes, while autumn offers a more tranquil atmosphere after the peak summer tourist season. This period allows travelers to explore Malta's historical sites, enjoy outdoor activities, and relax on the beautiful beaches without enduring the scorching heat of summer or the chill of winter. However, if you prefer a livelier atmosphere and vibrant festivities, the summer months (July to August) are the peak tourist season, but temperatures can soar, reaching up to 35°C (95°F). Winter (November to March) is the off-peak season, with cooler temperatures and occasional rainfall, making it a good time to find lower accommodation rates and fewer crowds but with limited beach and water activities.
